Modified Bitumen Roofing

Modified bitumen systems were developed in Europe in the 1960s and brought to North America in the early-to-mid 1970s. The key is a heavy roofing sheet (usually 120–180 mils thick) made from multiple layers of asphalt reinforced with plastic (APP) or rubber (SBS) modifiers, then installed by heat-welding or hot-mopping. Mod-bit’s standout traits are toughness, light loading, and resistance to wind and fire.

Built-Up Roof (B.U.R.) / 4-Ply

Built-up roofing has long been the traditional flat roofing material in Canada, predominantly on commercial and industrial buildings. The multi-ply configuration provides added protection against moisture along with a self-sealing property in warm weather. The felts reinforce thin layers of waterproofing bitumen, typically surfaced with aggregate set in a flood coat. B.U.R. systems are durable, long lasting and relatively resistant to construction traffic.

Single-Ply Flat Roofing (TPO)

Thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) membranes are a commercial roofing product that offers benefits in both installation and performance. Blending polymer and filler such as fibreglass, carbon fibre and rubber creates a single-ply membrane that resists UV rays, ozone and chemical exposure.
